Purple Amethyst is a member of the quartz family, which is part of the hexagonal crystal system. Caring for your purple amethyst. 

To keep its rich colour, avoid keeping it in direct sunlight as this will cause it to lighten. Due to your crystals high vibrations and it’s ability to soak up negative energy, Your purple amethyst will require regular cleansing. Cleaning your stone under running spring water ( bottled is also an option)  for 1 minute, is a simple way to cleanse it, but there are other methods that you might find more attractive. 

You can submerge it in a bowl of brown rice for 24 hours, then discard the rice afterwards. 

You can also use burning sage, which is an incredibly powerful plant with huge cleansing and healing properties. 

*If using sage, burn in a fire proof bowl and allow the smoke to flow around the crystal for 30 seconds. Make sure you are in a ventilated and safe space when you do this. 

To charge your crystal, let it bathe in full moonlight. Ideally on natural ground such as some lawn or wood. If you don’t have a garden, a balcony or window ledge is just as good. Let it sit in the moonlight, then bring it back in the following morning, don’t leave it too long in the direct sunlight the following day, as purple amethyst can fade if over exposed to direct sunlight.
